January is almost behind us and Dean is now sleeping through the night. There were some rough patches but I think we are getting the hang of this baby stuff for now. Rachel is back at work and we have Dean at an in home day care. I finished making a very nice kitchen island using up all the scrap wood I had in my shop. The top is butcher block style. It is made from Walnut, Ash, Hard Maple, and Red Oak. I put a cove around the edge to help with spills. The body is made from Ash and the drawer facings are strips of wood that were also left over scraps. The handles are custom made on my Lathe from a piece of Walnut I had left from the second dresser project. Check out the gallery link to the left to see some pictures of the process.
